We've been following this home grown zombie sweetheart for months... and we have to say, we couldn't wait to see the the whole thing.
This meant following the exploits of Thomas Newman (creator/director extraordinaire) and his odyssey to create the quintessential awesome zombie flick ... with well, little to no money. If that didn't catch our (or your) attention, well, nothing would.
So we've followed, helped, and waited.... for the final product.
We've seen the film... watched it several times, and here is our review...
Quick synopsis-- two stoners need to acquire more zombie brains to fertilize their ganja (which cause their weed to grow very quickly into Super-Ganja.) The problem: they now live in a zombie-free zone; not a biter in sight.
Road-trip!

But what follows is sheer brilliance-- a zombie-powered shower (literally... a zombie on a tread mill to power a water pump to power a shower)-- alluding to a lost family soul reduced to a power supply. Unfortunately another overly sympathetic scene of... pathos.. of no value (and left quite unexplained) and a bit of over-acting... and then an abrupt change back to what the movie was intended to be.

Here the movie jumps back into gear-- after a standard "we're about to kick some ass" montage which produces a big-ass truck equipped with three lawn mowers attached to its front... and our heroes emerging in slo-mo from the garage like "Mad Max" extras.. and ... well.. you know what's coming..!.
Jy Harris is great as a bonehead half-wit Canadian, but it's Mark Wynn who plays Edwin in the flick, that steals the show, to be sure, start to finish. He made me laugh out-loud (which is saying something when you're watching by yourself). The rest of the crew was bang on; Simone Bailly was hot and at times touching and sweet; weaker in the slower moments, but strap on the leathers, and transformation! Maybe our next female action chick! The makeup and visual effects (by Mike Fields) were top notch, and you can't ask for a more gore and blood-gushing ending-- I'm sure, compliments of Thomas and Mike Fields at the climax.
At approximately 1:09 into the movie-- we finally get what we're waiting for. The aforementioned blood bath-- for almost a good 25 minutes. My hat is off to you, Thomas and team. I am looking forward to BOTD2.
