"Zombieland" the Amazon series has been "HATED OUT OF EXISTENCE."

Last month "Zombieland," the Amazon pilot was released to the public, with it's continued existence left in the hands of the viewers. This is a controversial experiment by content developers and networks to allow the masses to decide what they want to see (or, more cynically, allow TV executives to hide their sheer ignorance of their evolving young audience behind a virtual group hug).

Well the masses have spoken regarding "Zombieland" and in the words of lead writer Rhett Reese:

"I'll never understand the vehement hate the pilot received from die-hard Zombieland fans.  You guys successfully hated it out of existence."

While I think that the pilot wasn't perfect (I do agree that it would have made more sense to create new characters instead of reincarnating the originals)-- I thought the show had potential.  But there was always the danger of the TV pilot's 24+ minutes being compared too closely to the obsessively loved full feature film, and it appears that that was it's ultimate downfall. It really was a case of living or dying by its street-cred.

Despite the fact that Amazon always contended that it would base it's decisions on viewer overall ratings, the irony is that Zombieland got more 5-star reviews than it got 1-star, 2-star, and 3-star reviews — COMBINED.

Hmm. Is the experiment dead already..?
